A Thought on Working from Home…

The workforce has changed. Remote work is more than just a neat perk, it’s becoming a standard. I worked from home for over four years with a lot of freedom, lower stress, and the option to choose the ideal working environment. The main issue for me was that I’d often fall into the comfortable rhythm of being at home, and in turn, would procrastinate work or get distracted by the atmosphere. It’s nice to work from the couch; but for me, it wasn’t always the most productive option. So, how can you stay on top of things while working from home? Get into the “office” mindset and start a routine every work day. For me, that meant putting on a “work” outfit and setting up shop in a nearby coffee joint or cafe, where I could get locked in and stay on target. I wouldn’t leave until I finished my work for the day. While this method probably won’t work for everyone, it got me moving, on-task and productive. For you, it may be putting on a suit, or designating a room in your home as an office space, or renting out a workspace away from your home. Whatever it is, identify it and make it a habit you can stick to. Congrats! You’re now an official work-from-homer.
